Ars Lyrica Houston
United States
Приєднався 6 лют 2012
Grammy-nominated ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston specializes in music from the Baroque era, the “golden age” of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, as performed on period instruments with careful attention to historical style and context. Founded in Houston in 1998 by harpsichordist and conductor Matthew Dirst and incorporated in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization, Ars Lyrica Houston produces a yearly series of concerts that range from intimate chamber programs to staged dramatic works. Reviewers have acclaimed the ensemble for its superlative performances of everything from Monteverdi to Mozart. According to the Houston Chronicle, Ars Lyrica "sets the agenda for imaginative period-instrument programming in Houston."

G.P. Telemann, Sonata VI from the Canons mélodieux TWV 40 - Ars Lyrica Houston
Violinists Elizabeth Blumenstock and Stephen Redfield perform Georg Philipp Telemann's Sonata VI from the Canons mélodieux TWV 40.
Baroque ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston's "Fugal Games"
Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 4 pm
Duncan Recital Hall, The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University
Program notes:
With his eighteen Canons mélodieux, published in a single volume in Paris in 1738, Georg Philipp Telemann showed that even the most restrictive kind of musical procedure can be as gracious as dance music or song. These tuneful little wonders may be realized on virtually any instruments; their compact presentation on a single staff means that performers can even share a single copy of the score. Organized as three-movement sonatas, these works combine artifice with toe-tapping pleasure. For the individual movements of Sonata VI, Telemann borrowed familiar Baroque dance rhythms: an opening A-minor Vivace in the style of a bourrée leads to a sweet-sounding siciliano (marked “Soave”) in B-flat major, while the final Allegro alternates playfully between A minor and A major, in the style of a passepied.
0:00 - Vivace
2:06 - Soave
3:52 - Allegro assai

Excellent et infiniment réjouissant, bienvenu dans cette ambiance sinistre générée par la démence de l'oligarchie mondiale qui veut absolument se débarrasser des populations jugées inutiles. Merci, chers artistes pour toute cette beauté.
BRAVISSIMO 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Excellent!
Elizabeth Blumenstock is outstanding and so is her student Alana!!! Both excellent violinists with cute expressive faces. Wonderful.
Main to reel dekhe aya hu yaha 😂😂
Very depressing music. Feels headache ever worse music in my life 🫣
I'd prefer to have in-tune horns rather than historically informed horns, thank you very much. Sometimes I think that if we could bring Bach back to life, and if we explained to him how musical instruments have developed, how we can play more notes, with more range and more control compared to the past, he would probably laugh in our face at our obsession for playing with the scrawny instruments he had available. Either that, or he would slap our face out of frustration with the stupidity.
Blimey, as I listened to this I noticed how bloody loud and unruly those horns are compared to the rest of the orchestra. It's a test for the musicians playing those horns to control them enough to sound as though they were part of the orchestra, rather than just being a couple of loud drunken Uncle's taking over family meal. Well done!
I don't know why people saying after listening this music instrument people get die 🤔 it's voice is so beautiful and give a peaceful environment❤❤😊
wow..

Very beautiful and nice to see the lady on the left! Always see her!!!🎉❤❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😘😊
this piece is played so beautifully but i feel a wave of depression wash over me when it starts. i can’t stop listening though
❤️💜💙😁👍
Was popular first for it’s sweet celestial sounds, but then people started blame it for depression, melancholy and even premature birth

Great performance, Lauren! Love your voice production.

Blumenstock pursuing a solo career & a break from voices of music?
Jay you are amazing! So proud of your accomplishments. Love Aunt Cheryl
La Reine preferred this Paris Symphony...I would have to pick others ahead of it (apologies to her Majesty) ones, as it turns out , without names (which always skews their popularity!) Nos 84, 86 and (especially for me) 87!
I'm looking forward to printing the IMSLP score and following this stupendous, engulfing performance. Best find so far on UA-cam. Kudos to production staff. Wow.
Stunning!
When I see and hear this... je suis Rameau! Galant comme jamais 💜
I am listening to this;- as I have an Emotional Blockage;- and need something in the k/o: C to listen to, in-order-to balance-out my chakra's! I also smoke!

Very Nice. Bravo!
How can you not tear up during the opening aria 🥲🥲
eliza could have been a big broadway star,,or even in movies..maybe she still will, but i think it is fascinating she has chosen the much less glamourous career as an opera singer,,must be her real love
Magnificent performance; dancers, orchestra, conductor and choreographer are all superb.
try more original versions; that Houston interpretation is funny work but as much alien as Chinese or Peruvian versions could be. Great example of show but missing like 500 hundreds years of real music perfomances in palaces
wonderfuuuul! my favorite compositor
Flawless!
We should perhaps stop whitewashing history by translating "les sauvages" with first nations. In the 18th century, Europeans were incredibly racist by today's standards. Set it in quotation marks or something else to show that you don't agree with the term, but do not sanitize history. And by the way, to replace the term savages makes it difficult to understand the message of the opera "Les Indes galantes", the savages are the real gallant people. It is important to face our own racist heritage to make a better future, and it is important to see the context of words to get the overall picture.
fantastic
Beautiful!
Stupenda Passacaglia quella di Pez. La sintesi perfetta tra Vivaldi e Bach. Eseguita con gusto.
Mozart can win a Grammy for this!! 😮 Did he still living i'm Germany? Nice cover by the way
Brynt Beitman is gorgeous!
stylish😂
🤣🤣🤣
Elana, You look adorable!!
❤
Crisp and precise. Love it till i perish
Fantastisch!
Such fluid and musical technique! I really admire Dr. Montoya's ease of tone and the evenness of her registers
